Real name: Roselea Arbana Maddox

Rose Maddox (born August 15, 1925, Boaz, Alabama, USA - died April 15, 1998, Ashland Oregon, USA) was an American singer, songwriter and fiddle player. She started as singer in the Maddox Brothers and Rose in the 1930s before a successful solo career. Cashbox magazine named her Top Female Country Vocalist of 1963. Her musical styles straddled hillbilly music, rockabilly and gospel. She was known for her flamboyant style, and colorful costumes. Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame Art Gallery, and the Alabama State Country Music Hall of Fame. She continued singing into the 1990s. Her bluegrass album "$35 and a Dream" was nominated for a Grammy award in 1996. Her final album was "The Moon Is Rising".
