Ambrose McLaughlin, who went by the stage name of Brendan Locke, was the first Irish tenor to appear on stage at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall in 1974.Born at Artillery Street in Derry city centre, he emigrated to England in the 1950s and following that to Australia. He was the nephew of the tenor Josef Locke
