After much deliberation of the success of being triple j unearthed, playing major out door festivals and having 'Russian Girls' in the net 50 for three months, Jimmy Styles and the Easy company are ready to re- emerge with a new line up in '06. Their unique sound of blending jazz with beats creates a new genre, Contemporary Swing, and makes them an incredibly energetic live show. This combination of Basie with Beastie Boys touts them to be Australias most exciting act for 2006.

Forget garage rock, power pop, and hip hop! Swing is the thing. But it ain't something only your grandaddy would listen too...at least not the way Brisbane 12-piece, Easy Company play.

Okay, so they haven't played a gig together, and their winning Unearthed entry "Russian Girls and their Cottontails" is pretty much their first composition. But from the pounding double bass which marks the song's arrival, it's pretty obvious this is no ordinary band.

Jimmy Styles himself grew up listening to big band swing. "My father was flying planes in the war and also playing trombone in a swing band, so I was brought up with Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman and all that stuff. I found it very exciting."

"So I thought if we mix [swing] up with some modern lyrics and throw some interesting loops and samples in and meld it with classically-trained musos, what happens? So we just started jamming and we're seeing what happens."
