English Mezzo-soprano / Contralto vocalist, won, at the age of 17, a Scholarship and Exhibition to the Royal College of Music, where she studied with Cuthbert Smith. After a distinguished period of study at the college, she emerged as winner of the major singing prizes: the Agnes Nicholls Harty Trophy and a Clara Butt Award.In 1967, she married the classical tubist John Fletcher (2).
