Cycle

Effective period / Period of releases: 2020

Members: John Whittingham, Norman Smith (12), Ronnie Patterson (4)

Formed in Middlesborough in 1968 by John Whittingham, initially named Psycle. With John on lead guitar and vocals, his subsequent brother-in-law Ronnie Patterson on bass and Norman Smith on drums, the trio quickly acquired a significant following on the local circuit, supporting Van der Graaf generator, Atomic Rooster and Mott The Hoople at their regular haunt, the Redcar Jazz Club. In late 1971, they made a demo album at SRT Studios in Bedfordshire to showcase their sound (and John's songs), pressing up 99 copies and selling them at gigs.

In 1975 they recorded a further two tracks, again unreleased during the bands time.

Cycle recorded another album that was not released until 2020.
