Jean Bedetti

French cello player. He was the principal cello for the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1919 to 1948, succeeding Joseph Malkin who left for the Chicago Symphony. He's also known as the Opéra Comique Principal cello and Colonne Orchestra Principal cello in Paris.

He studied with his father, who was also a cellist and a teacher at the Lyon Conservatory which he entered in the 1890s. He gained admission to the Paris Conservatoire where he won cello Premier prix in the 1902 Concour 128. While still in France, Bedetti first recorded for Pathé in 1908.
