Brightblack Morning Light was founded in Northern California by Nathan "Nabob" Shineywater with pianist friend Raybob Hughes, both originally from Alabama.
While recordings of this band are few, they toured many times throughout Northern California & beyond. Their debut studio album was ranked in Rolling Stone's Top 50 Albums of 2006.
Their live music was much different from their 2 studio recordings, with the 3rd being a live collection. Some live shows include San Francisco with Os Mutantes, Vashti Bunyan, Rachel's, West Coast touring with Papa M, Mojave 3, Hope Sandoval & eventually My Bloody Valentine in 2009. In 2010 Mr. Shineywater began touring & recording solo projects.
