Effective period / Period of releases: 1915 - 1929

Members: Sepp Ehringer, Hans Strassmeier

Bavarian folk music band.

This popular German band was founded in 1906 by Hans Strassmeier, who conducted it until his death in 1920. The band was also billed as the "1." or "Original Dachauer Bauernkapelle vom "Platzl" München." It was the house band of the "Platzl", a Munich theater-restaurant across the square from the Hofbräuhaus. In 1921, the Munich folk singers Weiß Ferdl and Sepp Ehringer took over the direction of the band. After Ehringer's death in 1931, Weiß Ferdl continued to lead the band alone until 1943.

The band recorded for numerous German labels, such as Beka, Dacapo-Record, Derby (3), Grammophon, Klang-Wunder, and Polyphon Record. In the United States, its recordings were released on Columbia, Odeon, and Okeh.
