California Guitar Trio features Paul Richards of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bert Lams of Brussels, Belgium, and Hideyo Moriya of Tokyo, Japan — plus since 2021 Richards and Lams were joined by U.S. Chapman stick player Tom Griesgraber (from Encinitas, California). The band members first met in England at Guitar Craft courses led by Robert Fripp during 1987. Richards, Lams, and Moriya attended several of these intensive courses before touring worldwide with Robert Fripp and The League Of Crafty Guitarists. Formal inception of the California Guitar Trio occurred in 1991.
