Chamber orchestra set up by composer / conductor Willem Frederik Bon around 1972 and folded a few years later again.
In 1988 a new chamber orchestra was set up in Amsterdam and as it had no relation to the previous orchestra it was given the name Nieuw Sinfonietta Amsterdam to clearly set it apart.

Note: for the chamber orchestra established in 1988 that later changed its name to Amsterdam Sinfonietta please use Amsterdam Sinfonietta.
