Hani Al-Bader, professionally known as HaNi, is a Kuwaiti/American producer and remixer who has left a lasting impact on the club music scene. His remixes of popular tracks by artists like Michael Jackson and Alicia Keys have become club classics. HaNi's personal success as an artist includes reaching number 1 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1999 with his track "Baby Wants To Ride."
Based in New York, HaNi, also known by various aliases such as Antigen, Disconfect, Miles Blacklove, and Dumbekchi, has gained recognition and popularity in both underground and commercial circles. Working with renowned artists such as Sting, Jean Michel Jarre, Deborah Cox, Justin Timberlake, Pink, Christina Aguilera, and Michael Jackson, among others, he has earned worldwide acclaim as a top producer and remixer.
Hani's musical journey began with the support of his father, who encouraged his talent from a young age. Learning to play the piano and drums at 5, Hani's skills were further developed through his brother's DJ equipment, allowing him to hone his DJing skills.
In 1994, Hani enrolled in the Institute of Audio Research in New York City, where he gained valuable knowledge of electronic circuitry and audio engineering. During this time, he embarked on his remix career, working on projects for artists like Deee-Lite, Repercussions, and Urban Soul. Notably, his unauthorized remix of Sade's "I Never Thought I'd See the Day" gained exposure when it was bootlegged by distributors in the US and Europe.
Hani's breakthrough came in 1996 with his first Billboard number 1 production, "Soul To Bare," featuring Joi Cardwell. His remix of Michael Jackson's "Earth Song" gained recognition and eventually received official approval, topping the UK pop chart for six weeks. Collaborating with Frankie Knuckles on a remix project further solidified his reputation in the dance music industry.
Throughout his career, Hani has worked on numerous remix projects, gaining respect from his peers. His remixes for artists like Amber and Deborah Cox became major radio hits in the US. In 2004, his production with vocalist Jason Walker, "Foolish Mind Games," reached number 1 on the Billboard chart. In 2006, Hani established his own record label, Soterios Records, where he writes, produces, and programs most of the releases under various aliases.
