Lead by brother/sister vocalists Lauren and Taylor Johnson, 'brand new friend' are an indie pop band from Northern Ireland. To date they have had their music featured on a host of local and national radio stations, from BBC Radio 1 to The Tom Robinson Show on BBC 6 Music. Upon the release of their debut EP 'American Wives' the band played an intimate launch show in HMV Belfast, organised by The Limelight, Belfast. They played the main stage at Stendhal Festival of Music in 2017, sharing a stage with Ports, Badly Drawn Boy and Therapy? in the process.

In September they played a sold out headline show in Lavery's, Belfast for cultural website/magazine The Thin Air, followed by a slot at Whelan's 'Ones To Watch' Festival 2017 in Dublin. They embarked on their first Irish tour in January 2017, playing to large crowds in Dublin, Galway, Belfast and Derry/Londonderry.

To date they have supported acts such as Pinegrove, Idlewild, And So I Watch You From Afar and Teleman in venues across the country.
