Sergio Fochi

Sergio Fochi migrated to Melbourne, Australia from Italy in the 1950s. He recruited some Melbourne musicians who became Sergio's Four and who played Latin music with a beat recording an album in 1965. He hosted a TV special for the ABC network in Australia (Latin Accent (1960) and a two TV series (Latin Holiday (1961) and Sortino Rendezvous (1968)). He was also owner of St. Kilda’s ‘Sergio’s Rendezvous Cabaret’, one of Melbourne’s leading nightclubs (which opened in mid 1969 in Earl's Court, with mini-skirted waitresses and go-go dancers in bikinis, and a 3 a.m. liquor licence, granted on the condition that women were accompanied by a male escort). In 1970 he provided the title song to the Australian post-Apocalyptic film of the same name "Beyond Reason". He recorded a Italian language and Italian flavoured album (Rendezvous With Sergio) and then he took the stage name "Sergio Paradise" and recorded Latin and Hawaiian flavoured albums and worked the cabaret circuit on Australia's Hayman Island and the Gold Coast..
