Freddie Barrett

Real name: Frederick Cecil Barrett

Born 29 June 1922, England
Died 20 March 2003 (according to filed company accounts), he possibly died in Weybridge, Surrey, UK.

Freddie founded the Barretts Liquormart chain of off-licenses (British name for liquor stores), mainly located in London and the South East of England.
Freddie was well known for his regular (and gently humourous) radio adverts that were almost ubiquitous during the 1970's and 1980's on LBC Radio and Capitol Radio (both stations based in London). His adverts played on the fact that he had a very "characteristic" voice and he sung (very poorly) his catchy "jingle" that went "Barretts, Barretts, Come To Barretts, Barretts Liquormart".
