Larytta

Effective period / Period of releases: 2008 - 2015

Members: Christian Pahud, Guy Meldem

In 2004, the beautiful Swiss city of Lausanne witnessed the emergence of Larytta, founded by artist-producers Guy Meldem and Christian Pahud. Their creative path began even before the release of their debut album Difficult Fun in 2008. Featuring lyrical modern pop with a variety of infectious electronic beats, they have proven to be one of the most exciting acts in the country.

The music of Larytta is really hard to describe. They bring together weird electronic beats, African rhythms, catchy melodies, hypnotizing voices, guitar loops, mainstream chorus, keyboards and crazy homemade noises created in Christian's and Guy's laboratory, all resulting in an innovative mixture of modern pop/soul and electro/techno, as well as inspired dashes of African music, hip-hop and R&B.

November 2005 saw the release of their first EP, Larytta. This was followed by a second EP, Ya-Ya-Ya in May 2007 and Friends of Friends Vol. 2 in 2009 along side Bauchamp on Los Angeles imprint Friends of Friends. These works generated a strong and still growing buzz at a worldwide level and enabled the band to play with artists such as Jamie Lidell, Micachu & The Shapes, Beach House, Justice, The Chap, DJ Medhi and Why! to name just a few. So far, Larytta has toured in France, Spain, the US, Russia and China and performed at international festivals the likes of SxSW, Montreux Jazz, Electron, Sonar, Paléo, Les Siestes Electroniques amongst others.

Six years after the highly acclaimed debut album Difficult Fun, their second full-length entitled Jura will be brought out in October 2014. The new and first single, the radio-friendly « Osama Obama » opens up a new direction for Larytta. While keeping their very own homemade sound and sense of humor, the style goes more mainstream with addictive choruses.
