LAWRENCE AXELROD was born in New York in 1960. He is a founder and current chairperson of the Chicago Composers' Forum, one of the newer and more vital voices for contemporary music in the Midwestern United States. He has composed works in all genres: chamber, solo, choral, orchestral, vocal and operatic. His music has been performed in New York, Philadelphia, London, England, and in Chicago. Axelrod appears frequently in the Chicago area as a conductor and concert pianist.
