Biography
81ttr45hr10t
This german artist (81ttr45hr10t, Leetspeak for Bit Trash Riot; also know as 8177r45hr107, 8tr, Bittrash, BitTrashRiot and Bit Trash Riot) has his roots in the german Amiga demoscene. His early Soundtracker MODs where released on 720-kilobyte-disks.
He released his first tracks in the now defunct 8bitcollective (8bc) community in 2008, the first full-fledged track being "DNS" in 2009. After the demise of 8bc, 81ttr45hr10t chose ucollective (now on hiatus as well) as his new home, where he contributed to the "Merry Chipmas" samplers 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2015. He has been a member of Chipmusic.org, later.
In 2009, he released his first EP, "Neighbourhood". This was followed by the "Neighbourhood Revisited" EP, recorded in 2010, but not released before 2015. In 2011, he was asked to release his first full album, "Sonata for a fictional 8bit microcomputer" on mexican netlabel 56kbps Records. In 2011, 8tr recorded his second full-length album, "Movie Computer Allstars", released in january, 2014.
The "0$ EP" from 2013 contained previously unavailable tracks from 2009 to 2012. The same year saw the re-release of "Sonata" with new cover art and a bonus track. In 2013, too, the "Reset" EP was released on six 3,5" floppy-disks, too (available as digital download in late december, 2014), which contained remixed versions of old tracks as well as new recordings (i.e. a rare excursion into the Chip Metal genre). In march 2014, 8tr released his most ambitious work so far, the 16 track concept album "Technik" (with visual art by spanish gfx master lxtxcx), which had been in the works since circa 2012. Exhausted from this endeavour, it took 8tr until september 2015 to release his fourth album, "Neighbourhood - The Revenge", which concluded the "Neighbourhood" trilogy.
To celebrate 2015's 007 movie "Spectre", 81ttr45hr10t mixed a cover version of the original 1962 James Bond theme by Monty Norman (with vfx by german artist Bouncing Bit). In late 2015, work began for what would become 8tr's last album (at least to this day). After the positive resonance to the "Children shall lead" single, the "To the stars" EP was released on October 31, 2016, containing seven new songs and three different versions of a bonus track. BronxKuma of chiptune community Chiptunes=Win revealed in his review of this EP that this could be 8tr's last album: "Whether that means it’s his last album as BTR, his last chiptune album, or his last album, period, I can’t say for certain."
Neithertheless, in August 2017, 8tr released a "post mortem" EP, titled "Found & lost", which contained five previously unreleased tracks as well as an all-new cyberpunk-themed composition as opener (which had been rejected by the curators of the Chiptunes=Win compilations).
A new sign of life in july 2018 was as a collaboration with California-based artist MrGee, the Chip Folk track "Fallout through the years" premiered on Twitch in "That Fallout Show" and was subsequently released via Bandcamp and Youtube. This was followed up by the "Launch" EP in november 2018, with five Fallout-themed tracks.
2019, 8tr was working on remixes for other artists, as well on new material for another EP, dubbed "Out there in the wasteland". This was released on april 4th, 2020, with six tracks and was well-received in the Fallout gaming-community.
The last release, so far, was the "Attract Mode" album on november 3rd, 2023. Since then, there have been hints to a compilation of covers and remixes, working title "Other people's chips", but nothing more is known about this project.
