Initially it began as a Costa Rican trio in 1962, but three years later it became the famous group Los Hermanos Cortez, from the city of León (Nicaragua), becoming the group with the greatest roots in the 60s and 70s in the tropical music genre. On April 22, 1974, they had a car accident, where the three trumpet players and the driver of the vehicle died. They reappeared two years later to record a new full-length album (LP).
