Lars Magnusson

Real name: Lars Robert Wilhelm Magnusson

Swedish opera singer (tenor), born March 10, 1955 in Gothenburg in Västra Götaland County.

He studied at the School of Music Drama in Stockholm 1979-1982. He studied singing for Enzo Florimo in Gothenburg and for Sonny Pettersson, Erik Saedén and Nicolai Gedda in Stockholm.

He made his debut at the Royal Theater in Stockholm as Beppo in Pajazzo by Leoncavallo in 1981 and was employed there as a vocal soloist in 1981-1991. He continued as a guest soloist regularly until 2005. The cast included Cassio in Otello, Walther in Tannhäuser, David in The Master Singers in Nuremberg, Captain Wozzeck, Lensky in Eugen Onegin, Rodolfo in Bohème and Alfredo in La traviata.

Magnusson guest starred on Swedish stages such as Storan and Göteborgsoperan, European stages such as Covent Garden in London, opera stages in Bonn, Munich, Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper and Barcelona. He also visited the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Opera in San Francisco.
