Chunyang Yao is a composer, vocalist and electronic improviser of Naxi descent born in Lijiang, China. Graduated from Music Conservatory of Shanghai with a Master’s in Theory and Composition. Yao composes art songs, choral music, and chamber music. In 2014, She launched solo electronic music and voice performance project. She is currently experimenting with combining native Naxi language, field recording, and synthesizers to create an improvised live performance in the vein of Music Concrète, Noise, and Drone.
