Biography
The Dream Kings
The Dream Kings (East Chicago, Indiana)
Tom Daniel, Lincoln Mabins, William Anderson, Robert Anderson, Ira Anderson
The Dream Kings, formerly known as The Drakes, originated from East Chicago, Indiana. The group was comprised of neighborhood friends, most of whom were high school students when they formed around 1953.
The lineup included Tom Daniel as the group's tenor lead and the composer of their recorded songs for United Records. Other members included Lincoln Mabins (baritone), William Anderson (baritone), Robert Anderson (tenor), and Ira Anderson (bass).
On May 12, 1955, The Drakes had a recording session with United Records. Unfortunately, both sides they recorded were left unreleased until many years later when they were included in a Delmark compilation of vocal group sides for United. Another session took place on October 19, but these recordings also remained unreleased for years.
Subsequently, The Drakes changed their name to The Dream Kings and recorded a single for Checker Records in 1957. Their song "M. Y. T. L. T. T." (Make You Tell Me You Love Me Too) became a local hit.
