With support of prince Charles de Lorraine he studied with Pierre van Maldere in Brussel, 1783 he moved for further study to Paris, 1790 cellist at Theatre Lirique et Comique du boulevard Saint-Martin and Opera Comique du Theatre Favart in Paris, 1792-1830 cellist at the Opera Comique in Paris, also at Chapelle Imperiale des Tuileries, professor of cello at Theatre Feydeau in Paris.
