Biography
Takun
Effective period / Period of releases: 2016
The story behind Takun begun in Madrid, in the year 2010, under the name Takun sin Takun, as a tribute quartet conformed by Nando, Davizio, Rubén Rivas and Rafael Mañanas, covering and updating old stuff from the band Takun Q Takun, a project started back in the 80´s by Nando´s brother, Guti. This was the startup to get a general idea of the spirit of Takun Q Takun, and mixing this concept with all the members´s influences, the Takun sin Takun personality started to ginge up. Deeply influenced as musicians by international bands as The Police, Metallica, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Yes or Van Halen, and national ones as Héroes del Silencio, Barón Rojo, O´Funk´illo, Nacha Pop or Radio Futura, Takun sin Takun starts to plan composing new original material in 2011, meanwhile the band itself suffers some lineup changes until it´s settled as a power trio (with Dennis Channels as the current bass player, since 2013). These decisions and changes establish the definitive studio and live identity-personality of the group, and finally led the band to change its name to Takun.Takun proposes overwhelming and interactive live shows, dynamism and energy full. The band members have previous album and live experiences with two other important local bands, Presidio (Davizio) and Andén 54 (Nando), and there are countless mythical places Takun has taken part of live shows, with some special highlights in Trujillo´s Castle, Marco Aldany Hall, Fiestas de Aluche 2015 or Live! Hall, for example.
Their debut album, Limbo, is the culmination of endless exciting and full of joy working sessions, and it´s the main reason for Takun to reach a bigger and more diverse audience so the project gets higher.
Limbo has been auto-produced in 2016, with Ángel Muñoz helping the band with drums recording, and Jorge Escudero being the main sound engineer guide guy (a key man so the studio sound of the band took a definitive and solid identity). The artwork of Limbo is born from an own idea of the band, and the shape and details so the concept is adapted to digipack format are built and polished by Álvaro Avis and Alejandro Martínez. In addition, Takun had the special support of Pablo Sancha (Delyrïum) for the Desde Cero piano arrangements.
