CRAZE was a Japanese rock band formed in July 1994 by former D'Erlanger members Ichiro Takigawa (aka Cipher), and Tetsu Kikuchi, who had disbanded Body (9) at the time, along with Seiichi Iida of Zi:Kill, and Kenichi Fujisaki of Justy-Nasty. The band had embarked on its musical journey until its disbandment in 2006, spanning various vocalists and stylistic influences over the years.Core members:
Ichiro Takigawa (aka Cipher) - Guitar
Tetsu Kikuchi - Drums
Seiichi Iida - Bass
List of vocalists in chronological order:
Kaku Ito (2) (1994) — Only attended the first few rehearsals and did not officially join.
Masakatsu Hamaguchi (1994) — Made a cameo in a live event but didn't stick around as a full-time member.
Kenichi Fujisaki (1995 - 1997) — Joined as CRAZE's first official vocalist after the dissolution of his previous band JUSTY-NASTY in 1995. Unfortunately, health issues and a decline in confidence led to his departure in December 1997.
Toyokazu Ogata (1997 - 1999) — Became the band's second vocalist after Kenichi's departure in 1997. Despite showcasing a versatile and expressive vocal style, he left the band in July 1999 after 2 years of contributions, citing differences in goals and aspirations.
Shinichiro Suzuki (1999 - 2000) — Notable for his acting career, including NHK dramas, he succeeded Toyokazu but left the band within a year in June 2000.
Tusk Itaya (2000 - 2005) — In July 2000, Tusk joined as the fifth and final vocalist, making him the longest-serving vocalist in the band's history. However, in August 2005, he abruptly announced his withdrawal and departed from the band. Interestingly, Tusk was initially approached to be the debut vocalist in 1994 but declined due to mental fatigue after Zi:Kill's disbandment in 1994. Kenichi Fujisaki assumed the role after JUSTY-NASTY disbanded in 1995.
CRAZE faced a significant setback when Tusk left the band. The band's last live performance took place in SHIBUYA-AX on January 9, 2006. Lacking a vocalist, this farewell show featured a unique instrumental performance by the remaining three members.
