Real name: Don R. George

American songwriter, composer, author and artist.
Born August 27, 1909 in New York City, New York, USA.
Died June 27, 1987 in New York City, New York, USA.
He was educated in New York public schools. His popular songs included "The Yellow Rose of Texas", "I Ain't Got Nothin' But the Blues" (1937), "I'm Beginning to See the Light" (1944) and "Everything but You" (1945). He wrote many of his best known songs with Duke Ellington, whom he wrote a biography of "Sweet Man: The Real Duke Ellington" (1981).
