Nicholas Chase (born N. Nicholas Mahayni) is an American composer and performer. His best known work is Bhajan for electric violin and computers released on Cold Blue Music (2017). He is the sole member of the recording project Soul Parish who was active 1995-1998 (Secession Records and Bright Green Records).
His compositional style references popular music forms such as techno, electronica, ambient, and noise music, and frequently integrates interactive signal processing and electronic sound material with acoustic instrumentation. He has written original music for various ensembles including The California E.A.R. Unit, the Long Beach Opera, and the Philadelphia Classical Symphony. He has released recordings in Europe on the STV/Unit Records label.
