The UK-based 'Invisible Opera Company Of Tibet' was formed by guitarist Brian 'Zero' Abbott in the summer of 1992.
The Invisible Opera Company of Tibet was originally a codename given by Australian poet and guitarist Daevid Allen, following experiences of a higher intelligence that guided the progress of 70's psychedelic fusion band, Gong.
When Brian Abbott started the UK version, there were at that time already 3 Invisible Opera Co. bands :
- in Australia : Invisible Opera Company Of Tibet, or Invisible Opera Company Of Oz, fronted by Daevid Allen himself.
- in Brazil : Invisible Opera Company Of Tibet (Tropical Version Brazil), fronted by Fabio Golfetti
- in the USA : The Invisible Opera Company Of Tibet (2)

The UK band, with the inevitable line-up changes, has gigged extensively since 1992, touring with guests Daevid Allen & Ruz Hibbs (of the Australian Invisibles) as well as supporting the Hawklords and Gong on their respective 2012 UK tours.
The IOCoT have an ongoing recording history and have produced several albums, both in the studio and live.
