Biography
Alison Lowry
Composer for South African artists that have recorded in South Africa. Part of a song-writing team with Roy Clarke.
Their compositions include "Smile at the World" which was recorded by Sammy Brown, and released on his In Motion album (1975) and "I Stand For Love" was recorded by Phase II & the MC Band (1980). Due to the "togetherness" nature of the song in the period of "Apartheid South Africa", it didn't receive the airplay it deserved. It appears on Margaret Singana's 1981 Nothing To Fear album. Adelle First also recorded a version of the song which was released 2 years later. Other compositions by Clarke and Lowry include "Gimme the Love" by Neville Nash.
