Orchestra from the town of Enschede, the Netherlands.
The orchestra was founded in 1994. In 2011 the name changed to Nederlands Symfonieorkest. This resulted in a legal dispute with the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest. As a result of this dispute, the name Nederlands Symfonieorkest was changed to HET Symphonieorkest. Between 2015 and 2019 the orchestra used its old name "Orkest van het Oosten" again. In 2019 the orchestra merged with Het Gelders Orkest to form the Phion orchestra.
Internationally the orchestra was known as The Netherlands Symphony Orchestra.
