Real name: N-1

Effective period / Period of releases: 2020

Members: Steven Hein, Thorsten Marach, Maziar Vazdkhasti

It was in 1998 when two experienced musicians from various backgrounds - Steven Hein and Maziar Yazdkhasti, both from Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - decided to join their efforts and to form a sort of free-improvising jam-rock band named N-1. Steven Hein plays on guitars, sometimes on keyboards, drums, and bass; he is also responsible for engineering, sound-production, and artwork-design. Maziar Yazdkhasti plays on bass and occasionally on drums. In fact, having all necessary studio-equipment the duo was quite self-sufficient. But N-1's art-concept itself was based on full participation in each session of at least one guest-musician who became a full ensemble-member for a certain period of time. This principle allowed to bring new visions and colors into each new recording, thus melting borders between subgenres and styles.
Making their first album in 2003, N-1 have professionally produced several dozen recordings since that time, ranging stylistically from instrumental avant-rock, jazz-fusion, prog-rock, psychedelic rock, space-rock, kraut-rock, and various forms of experimental music. All of them were self-published digitally and distributed through the web. N-1 have never published their music in physical forms until they decided to cooperate with R.A.I.G. Records.
