Alan Coad

Australian baritone (b. Meningie, South Australia 1912 -

Scholarship to Adelaide Elder Conservatorium for two years, then went to London in 1936 with scholarship to Royal College of Music. Sang at the coronation of George VI at Westminster Abbey and also on BBC radio. Returned to Australia 1939 and gave many concerts & broadcasts. In "Strike Up The Band" for 46 weeks. Went to U.S. in 1946 where he took lessons from Metropolitan Opera House coach and made radio broadcasts. Back in Australia June 1948. With National Opera in 1951 and further broadcasts.
