Coitus was an industrial rock project of New Zealander Peter Wright, in which he sought to combine two disparate elements of his music: the desire to write songs, but also to make music that was free of all constraints. It was from the merging of these two elements that the project's name was derived. Several tapes were released during the life of the project and later re-released on retrospective CDRs by the kRkRkRk label. Wright ended the project in 1997 as his focus turned away from rock-based idioms to more introspective, minimalist ambient and experimental fields.
