German pianist, composer, and arranger, born in Český Krumlov, German-occupied Sudetenland (1939). Living in Czechoslovakia, he nevertheless had the opportunity to work in Western Europe as a dance band leader in West Germany, Austria, and Denmark. Having decided to stay in Denmark, Käfer established himself as a record arranger and library music composer. He has had numerous compositions published by Carlin and Chappell. Conducted Denmark's Eurovision entry in 1985 and was involved in the contest as an arranger on several more occasions.
