Died February 9, 2023 in Halle (Saale), Germany.
Bärenz played guitar and violin with Larynx and Thommie Bayer. He as well accompanied Hannes Wader for ten years. In 1992 he started a successful career at German local broadcaster MDR - Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk. He started the youth radio station MDR Sputnik in 1992 and led the station as program director from 2011. He became the program director of the cultural radio station MDR Figaro in 2014 and then was promoted to head of the newly created main editorial department for culture with the areas of radio, TV, online and social media. Bärenz was the brother of Albrecht Bärenz and Martin Bärenz.
