Theresa Purcell

Inconic Fijian singer, Theresa Purcell (Sokosoko) was born in Fiji on April 15, 1926. She was married to prominent Fijian musician and band leader, Henry Purcell. Throughout her career she performed at Fijian clubs, resorts and hotels.Being a regular performer at the Korolevu Beach Hotel, she would mesmerize guests with her covers of songs such as "Red Sails in the Sunset" and "Beautiful Sunday".

Two albums she was reatured on were, A Place In The Sun and Fiji Red Hibiscus, both released on Viking in 1980. For a period of time she was also a member of the Korolevu Beach Serenaders.

Winding up her career, one of her last gigs was with husband Henry, performing at the Shangri-La Fijian resort.

She died in Sigatoka, Fiji on April 08, 1998 at age 71.
