Quartet formed in Rio de Janeiro by producers Michael Sullivan and Miguel Plopschi. The members were Marquinhos (a ex-Paquito, assistant to the presenter Xuxa), Will, Franck and Sérgio. The name came from a valve that gave power to guitar amplifiers in the 70's.
