Born in November 2014 in Barreiro, Portugal, Conan Castro and the Moonshine Piñatas have emerged in the local garage punk-rock scene as the world’s first Vomit Rock band. The name reflects a certain Mexican-American Garage-Rock which lays its roots in the Mexican/US border and in the several musical and cultural elements emerging from there. Their music, however, doesn’t fall under one single genre: they think of themselves as the pioneers of the Vomit-Mexican-American-Garage-Punk-Rock. The drums, the guitars, the bass and the angry vocals embody this feverish tropical rock’n’roll band. It is the perfect soundtrack for all of those who, one day, aim to cross a border illegally. Welcome then to the border-jumping music.
The debut album, “Cataplana America”, edited by Hey! Pachuco Records, is the perfect excuse to have a go at Conan Castro’s music and hopefully get to see one of their live performances, filled with pure adrenaline and the celebration of the rock’n’roll spirit.
