American Cantor (1880-1924).

Meyer Kanewsky was one of the most popular Jewish recording artists of his time. Between 1912 and 1919, he recorded more than 130 selections for Columbia, Victor, Edison, and Pathé.

Apart from Jewish liturgical songs, which he recorded under the name Cantor Meyer Kanewsky or Rev. Meyer Kanewsky, Kanewsky also performed songs in Ukrainian, Russian, Yiddish. For some of these, he used aliases, such as M. Gutmann for popular Yiddish songs, M. Mironenko for Ukrainian songs on Columbia, and M. Palamak for Russian and Ukrainian songs on Victor. In 1915, he also served as conductor on ten recordings of Abe Elenkrig's Orchestra made for Victor.
