Yorgos Mangas, born on 23rd of August 1952 in Leivadia, is a contemporary Greek clarinetist, with Romani origin, known for his unique interpretation of Balkan folk music.
His father was a famous clarinetist, but he wanted to become a doctor. At 18 years old, he became a self-taught flute and later clarinet player and started to perform in Greece.
Soon his fame went abroad, and participated in international festivals (France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, UK and Canada).
MTV named him "The Greek Phenomenon of the Balkan Jazz".
