Real name: Ada Jemima Crossley

b.: March 03, 1874 (Tarraville, Gippsland, Victoria, Australia)
d.: October 17, 1929 (London, England)

Australian contralto who took singing lessons from Madame Fanny Simonsen in Melbourne. Gave her first concert in 1889, followed by many others. Went to London in March 1894 for further study. London debut in May 1895, and gave many other concerts throughout Britain including five Command Performances for Queen Victoria. Toured USA 1902-1903 and then returned to Australia via South Africa in Sept., 1903 for JCW tour with Percy Grainger. Returned to London in Feb, 1904. Again visited Australia 1907-1908 and gave charity concerts throughout WWI after which performances tapered off.
