Biography
The Daleian Singers
The choir was formed in 1957 by a group of choristers from Silverdale Methodist Chapel, Newcastle-under-Lyme, England.
They called themselves The Daleian Singers, a name chosen to reflect the geographical connection of this North Staffordshire Male Voice Choir.
In the early days, BBC Radio Stoke signed off their evening programme with a musical recording by The Daleian Singers.
The Choir also features on a special BBC recording of "Songs of Praise", produced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the BBC.
Over the years the Daleians have built up an enviable reputation as formidable competitors in the music festival arena. Their successes include wins at Blackpool, Bournville, Buxton, Southport, Tamworth, Pontrhydfendigaid and Minsterley (3 times in successive years).
Despite many festival successes, The Daleian Singers regard themselves primarily as entertainers and although much in demand locally they have given concerts as far afield as The Lake District, Cornwall, Yorkshire and Lancashire and a celebrity concert on Llandudno Pier before its demise.
In addition the choir have given a number of performances in support of and raising money for local and national charities.
