Andrew Horner

Andrew Horner is an American music researcher and Computer Science Department Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has permanently resided in Hong Kong since the mid-1990s. Andrew's primary research interests are computer music, emotional characteristics and timbre (sound color) of musical instruments, and recognition of musical emotions.

Horner received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1993. He co-chaired the 1996 International Computer Music Conference in Hong Kong and co-authored the 2002 book Cooking with Csound: Woodwind and Brass Recipes with his late wife Lydia Ayers.
