After a series of bands that all fell apart, Ann Arbor, MI based Erik Helwig took his growing interest in electronic music and created Girls Who Care in 2011. Seeking to combine elements of rock, disco, and synthpop—as well as both modern and classic influences—Helwig began composing the tracks that would eventually make up his debut album, Light Sleeper. The album was produced/mixed by Andrew Maury (Ra Ra Riot, Givers, Kisses, Panama Wedding, RAC).
