Maple Creek Old Tyme Fiddlers

Effective period / Period of releases: 1978

Members: Olga Sawby

Formed in 1973 by Olga Sawby, the group entertained throughout Saskatchewan and neighbouring Canadian provinces, performing at community halls and other dance venues. They primarily travelled to events in a motorhome that belonged to member Herb Duncan. Some performance highlights included a Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) Convention in Regina, Yorkton Pioneer Days, and the MS Lord Selkirk II passenger cruise whip on Lake Winnipeg. For a number of years, the group held Old Time Dance classes at the Maple Creek Armouries and played Saturday night dances at Cypress Hills Park. They were filmed by the Saskatchewan Film Board and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). The group quietly disbanded as a formal entity around 1988.
