Real name: Joseph James Evans
US jazz alto and baritone saxophonist from the Swing era. Later became producer/songwriter/label owner (Cee-Jay Record Co., Carnival Records).Born in Pensacola, Florida, October 7, 1916 - Died in Richmond, Virginia of renal disease on January 17, 2014.
Worked with The Manhattans in the 60's.
