Madam Megan Telini
Real name: Margaret Jane Parry

Welsh soprano singer, born in Bethesda, 1878 and died in Carmarthenshire, 1940. Won the Open Soprano competition at the 1898 Eisteddfod. She was part of a choir that helped raise money for the Penrhyn Slate Quarry workers workers, which included her father and future husband. Soon after the strike she spent 8 years in Edinburgh and then time in Italy where she adopted the Madam Telini name. During her recording career she continued to raise money for the South Wales miners. She retired in 1934.
