Real name: Lieutenant-Colonel Douglas Alexander Pope, O.B.E., F.R.A.M., A.R.C.M., p.s.m.

British conductor and arranger, born 2 May 1904 on the Isle of Wight. Directed various bands (including those of the1st. Battalion Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders, The Royal Military College, Sandhurst, and The Royal Army Service Corps), before being appointed Director of Music, Coldstream Guards in 1944, a position he held until 1962, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, and Senior Director of Music, Guards Division
