Wired

Effective period / Period of releases: 1974

Members: Conny Plank, Mike Lewis (4), Michael Ranta, Karl-Heinz Böttner

The group Wired was actually the project of one Karl-Heinz Böttner (German avant-garde composer) commissioned by the WDR in 1969. Also involved was Canadian Mike Lewis (based in Germany since studying in Munich), and American Michael Ranta (his credits include working in Stockhausen's ensemble).
The original Wired recording was a 140 minute improvisation, expertly handled by Conny Plank doing a Stockhausen type job at the mixing desk, which was edited down to album length in 1973, gaining release in the 3LP box set "Free Improvisation" in 1974.
