American jazz composer and singer.
Born March 10, 1896 in New York City, New York.
Died April 23, 1953 (aged 57) in New York City, New York.
Husband of May Singhi Breen.
As a songwriter, he charted 46 times between 1922 and 1981 in the U.K. and U.S. He had a #1 songs with "Wagon Wheels" by Paul Whiteman & His Orchestra in 1934 and "Deep Purple" by Larry Clinton and His Orchestra in 1939. "Deep Purple" hit #1 again in 1963, this time by Nino Tempo & April Stevens. The song "Deep Purple" has charted 10 times and DeRose has 16 overall top 10 songs.
