If her blond hair were drawn back into French twist you might mistake Elizabeth Corrigan for a blue-blood, ex-debutante wife of a professor — one of those always-smiling women in her late 20s who speaks in cultured tones and spends most of her life planning dinner parties.

Several nears ago, you would have been right.

But today, at 39, Elizabeth is off on yet another leg of a singing career that began back in the 50s when she scandalized her family by singing in bars.

Before a show at the Raven Gallery in Southfield (where the will give her last shows tonight, Ms Corrigan cheerfully told the story of a career stuggle that might have destroyed a lesser person.

Born into the Seneff of Pittsburgh, a clan with more arrogance than affluence, Elizabeth says, she had s full-fledged debut in 1953 When she was 18. But even her entry into society illustrated the pretense of her existence.
